"Why was my gift card denied?" –– An explanation for gift card rejections!

We appreciate all your hard work on Dealspotr, which is why we like to reward our users! However, we also like to maintain a certain integrity of the website, which is why we provide Deal Posting Guidelines to guide you in posting on Dealspotr. If you broke one of our rules during your deal posting, you're likely going to receive a rejection to your gift card request along with a penalization. With every rejection, we have a skilled moderator review all of your activity from your last request to evaluate whether or not your activity is a positive addition to Dealspotr. Unfortunately, sometimes we have to deny gift cards because of invalid activity. If you're confused about your reason for rejection, here's a further explanation.

High Volume Stores

"Thank you for participating in Dealspotr. We reviewed your recent activity, and unfortunately, we saw patterns that match patterns of abuse or unhelpful deal posting which may negatively impact the user experience on Dealspotr. In your case, you're only creating / reactivating regular codes for high volume stores (stores with 30+ promo codes or 150+ single-use codes already active). Please avoid doing this. Some examples of helpful deal posting activity: post deals for a wide variety of stores, in particular stores that don’t have many deals yet; use a wide variety of validation types (creations, reactivations, confirmations, edits, etc.); provide evidence of reactivation expiration dates (if none, default to 2 weeks); and try out the new Deal Posting Projects to earn more points. Your account has been adjusted for this activity. We encourage you to continue your participation, please double check that any validations you’re making are truly helpful to shoppers on Dealspotr."

We strive to reward users who are doing positive behaviors on the site and are improving the user experience for our shoppers. Sometimes stores offer numerous promo codes and while that's great to a certain extent, it can get a little redundant. When a store already has 30 promo codes, a shopper can use one of the other codes that's already on the page, so adding another is just an excuse for points. We created our Deal Posting Projects page to aide users in finding low volume stores to gain more points. Please check out this feature to help you earn points for gift cards while being a positive deal poster on the site.

Confirming Too Many Deals

We strive to reward users who are doing positive behaviors on the site and are improving the user experience for our shoppers. In order to be providing a positive experience, you need to be adding something to the community. Validating deals (also called confirmations) is great, but it is also receiving points from the work other users have done to find these codes. We require that less than 1/3 of your activity be from confirmations. Instead of just validating deals, why not reactivate deals? If you go to any store's page, you will see a list of unverified codes that need to be reactivated if they work. This will both give you more points and be beneficial to shoppers :)

No Change in Activity

Your notification said the following:

"Thank you for participating in Dealspotr. We reviewed your recent activity, and unfortunately we haven't seen a great enough amount of change in your activity from when your last gift card was redeemed to now. Please continue to improve your deal posting activity, and try redeeming your gift card at a later date."

Since we review the activity since your last gift card request, it is important that you fix the issue we outlined in your last rejection during the time you are earning points (we check all the way back so don't just try to change it at the end). If we do not see any change in your activity (i.e., you're still posting to high volume stores or only validating deals), we will continue to deny your request until we see a valid change in your activity.
